Who are we ?

    A Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual/Transgenre organization in Paris France, founded in 1995, we propose dance related activities and organize the “Carnaval Interlope” every year

    A group that maintains a gay visibility, fights against all forms of racism and discrimination, and promotes the free expression of all cultures

    300 members and 1000 boosters

What our organization offers...

weekly dance classes for all levels (beginner to expert) in diverse styles offered in ten session semesters. The courses are offered in the evenings, and the styles are rotated each semester
tea dances with themes such as Debutantes ball, Viennese waltz, A day at the Windsor’s, Cabaret are held the third Sunday of each month at Dancing le Tango, the premiere gay friendly dancing club of Paris. All of our events are open to the public, with many costumed participants.
intensive weekend dance retreats in and around Paris made up of two four hour classes given over two days. These retreats permit any student to advance rapidly in a chosen style, and are ideal for dancers who cannot come to Paris regularly or who are just visiting.
dancing “Nights out” , that permit students to practice what they learn in a social setting  and an ideal dance environment.

trips to other European cities to participate in important events in the gay and lesbian community. Recent trips include Amsterdam with the C.O.C, London with the Pink Dancers, Brussels with Tels Quels and Infor’Homo, and each year at the Université d’Eté Euroméditerranéenne des Homosexualités in Marseilles. A delegation of 75 members also attended World Pride 2000 in Rome.
the “Interlope Carnaval”, our annual costume ball held in February or March is attended by hundreds who spend the night dancing, being entertained by our dancers, and competing for prizes based on best costumes.

How we keep our membership informed ?

    The GazMusette is published four times a year and sent to 1500 people. It lists all up-coming activities and encourages members to register for these activities by mail.

    Our very own web-site at www.gaismusette.com which permits in-depth coverage of the issues of the Gais Musette, as well as many  photos, taken at our functions.

    An electronic news-letter sent three or four times a month to all those who register (completely free of charge) at our web-site.

Our activism in the LGBT community...

    Benefit tea dances to support other gay and lesbian associations.

    Trips to other European cities to meet and network with other gay and lesbian associations.

    A strong presence at each Lesbian and Gay Pride march in Paris (Marche des Fiertés LGBT).  

    Active members of the Conseil Inter-LGBT d'Ile-de-France, organizers of the Salon des Assoces (annual LGBT associations meeting) and the Lesbian & Gay Pride Paris, (and with the group Contact share the offices of secretary)

    By participating in “main stream” events such as the Paris Marathon, and different events such as the Fête de la Musique (French music feast), La ronde des étoiles, Le Printemps des Guinguettes, the Gais Musette increase gay visibility.
